Buying teak outdoor furniture is a long term investment that needs little or no maintenance. At LeisureBench, we use only the finest Grade A teak sourced from sustainable sources. This ensures your product will have high durability and good looks.
If left untreated teak will weather to a beautiful silvery grey. It can also be varnished or stained to almost any colour. Teak is a natural product and will expand and contract with changing climatic conditions, which can lead to slight cracking with age, which is perfectly normal and does not affect the longevity or structural strength of the product.
To aid the woods natural protection and long life you can brush with one or two coats of our recommended Danish Oil, which can increase the Teaks natural resilliance to insects and moulds.
Grade A teak is the highest quality teak wood. It refers to timber that is taken from the very centre of the log (heartwood) of a fully mature tree.
Grade A teak can be recognised by a uniform, golden brown colour, close grains and glossy surface that feels oily to touch. It is high in teak natural oils which play the key role in teaks outstanding resistance to outdoor elements and repelling of insects.
Unfortunately, it makes up only about a fifth to one quarter of the log and as a result, it has a high price.
